Summertime in Newmarket

Get set for the summer holidays: Top things to see and do in Newmarket

With the school holidays now upon us, Discover Newmarket have produced the ultimate guide for families looking for things to see and do in the town and the surrounding area this summer.

The National Stud Tour

The National Stud is the only commercial stud farm in the UK allowing individuals, small groups and large parties the chance to see behind the scenes of a working thoroughbred stud farm. The tours vary throughout the year, depending on the season and the activities happening on the stud when you visit. Most tours include a visit to the Stallion Unit and during the summer you can expect to see some mares and foals grazing and enjoying the sunshine.

Tours of The National Stud last approximately 90 minutes and are taken by coach and on foot.  Family tickets are available throughout the school holidays (2 adults & 2 children aged 5-16 years). Under 5s free of charge.

Family Fun

We are proud to be a signatory to the Kids in Museums Manifesto. We welcome families and there is plenty to explore and enjoy together in the new Heritage Centre. Family workshops will also feature as part of our programming, particularly during school holidays, when everyone can make something together! Everyone will enjoy meeting our equine stars in the Rothschild Yard.

Summer Saturdays

It’s all fun and games at Newmarket Racecourses as the Adnams July Course host a series of Family Fun Days. The themed Saturdays include Horseplay this Saturday 23rd July with pony rides, mini horse jumps and Hobby horse flat racing; meet PAW Patrol’s Chase & Marshall on Saturday 30th July; The Gruffalo will be meeting and greeting the little ones on Saturday 13th August and on 26th August dress-up and join in the fun at the Super Hero Day.

Discover Newmarket also offers a range of tours to some of the best and most exclusive places at the Home of Horseracing.
