Days Out In West Stow
Would you like to know what it was really like in early Anglo-Saxon times? At West Stow you can walk in the footsteps of our ancestors and see the evidence for yourself.
The early Anglo-Saxon village has been carefully reconstructed where it was excavated, and tells the fascinating story of the settlement and the people who lived there.
You can explore the houses, smell the wood smoke and absorb yourself in the atmosphere before admiring the displays of objects found during the excavation inside the museum. Every aspect of life is covered, from fashion to farming, crafts to cremation. Watch a film, dress up as an Anglo-Saxon and try to work out what the objects were used for.
Whilst you're here, why not browse the items for sale in the gift shop or stop for refreshments in the café, whilst the children let off some steam in the adventure playground.
Beyond the Anglo-Saxon village and museum is a 52 hectare Country Park bursting with life. There are plenty of opportunities for picnics and walks along the river Lark and around the lake, plus country trails and bird hides.
A visit to West Stow is an enjoyable day out for all the family, come rain or shine.
