Heffers is a huge bookshop that has served Cambridge’s locals, tourists, students and academics since 1876. While its range of books on all subjects from Archaeology to Zoology is impressive, it also stocks a wide variety of other items to tempt visitors.
The shop has a wide range of greetings cards, many designed by small independent companies, posters, prints and frames to suit all tastes and pockets and beautiful stationery, including the widest range of Moleskine products to be found in Cambridge.
Heffers Music department sells CDs, records, sheet music, books and a selection of musical instruments and music-related gifts.
We have an ever-growing range of board games, jigsaws and puzzles available and a board games group that meets regularly in the shop. For fans of Harry Potter (and there are millions of you) we are stockists of brilliant HP goodies, including the wands of all the major characters.
But, above all, Heffers is about books. We have the widest range of academic books in Cambridge, along with a huge fiction selection, which includes Britain’s best crime fiction department.
The beautiful Children’s department houses a delightful collection of books for children of all ages along with character toys and child friendly activities and games.
Other specialities include an extensive Travel section, a lovely selection of Cookery titles and a massive History department.
If you can’t find what you’re after amongst all those new books, the Secondhand department has a great mix of used items. It’s well worth a rummage to unearth a hidden gem.
Our staff all love books and love talking about them to customers. We’ll always be happy to recommend books whether you’re stuck for ideas or spoilt for choice. So, come in and get lost (in the nicest possible way) for a couple of hours in our miles of shelving across three floors.
