Day One

Welcome the morning with a coffee in the middle of Market Square and watch the world go by at the daily market. Here you will find everything from vintage clothes and shabby chic homeware to loose tea, fine cheese and even an Italian barber. It’s a great place to find something special.

Enjoy lunch at Auntie’s Tea Shop with its lace-topped tables, traditional waitress service and delicious homemade cakes situated opposite the splendid St Mary’s Church and only a few steps away from the world-famous King’s College Chapel.

Spend the afternoon seeking out the treasure that is the city’s independent and smaller shops and boutiques. Explore Rose Crescent, Trinity Street, Green Street, Benet Street and King’s Parade where you will find Harriet Kelsall jewellery, Byard Art, Cambridge University Press Bookshop, Breeze gift shop, Catfish and Dogfish fashion shops as well as Joules, White Stuff and Reiss. Head to Magdalene Street, Sussex Street, All Saints Passage and King Street for more stylish shops. Baska, Bowns, Boudoir Femme and Giulio will keep fashion fans more than happy while home lovers will enjoy Providence and Sandra Jane and foodies can stock up at the delicious Cambridge Cheese Company.

After a spot of afternoon tea take time to indulge in some retro and vintage-style shopping. You will find retro-chic galore at Cath Kidston’s emporium on Market Hill and lovely vintage styles at Ark on St Mary’s Passage and Norfolk Street. There are vintage finds on the market and Jemporium, at The Grafton, is packed with authentic fabulous vintage clothes and accessories. Burleigh Street is lined with charity shops where you can also unearth some vintage treasure.

Dress to impress for cocktails on the roof terrace at The Varsity Hotel.

Day Two

Grand Arcade is the newest shopping centre with 60 high-end and high street names under one stylish, sky-lit roof. The Grafton is a short walk across one of the city’s many green spaces and offers lots of high street favourites.

Enjoy lunch at the Galleria Restaurant, beside the River Cam, where the terrace is ideal for al fresco dining while watching the punts glide by.

Add glamour to your day with a make-up makeover at John Lewis, which has some of the hottest beauty brands including Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Benefit and Sisley.
