Scudamore's Punting Company: Mill Lane
Founded at the start of the 20th century, Scudamore's are Cambridge's original and most renowned punting company. Since their foundation, they have been hiring out boats and running Cambridge tours to residents and visitors alike. They offer boating activities in two directions, either along the famous College Backs or upstream towards the beautiful village of Grantchester.
College Backs Punting Tours:
Scudamore's became the first punting company in Cambridge to offer a chauffeured tour of the College Backs. Their award-winning 45 minute College Backs Tour offers the ideal introduction to Cambridge’s eventful history. Discover how the city has evolved from medieval market town to world-class centre for education, whilst enjoying spectacular views from the river. No one showcases Cambridge like Scudamore's: each season they select and train a group of guides who have a passion for history and a talent for sharing it with others.
From the gothic splendour of King’s College Chapel to the classical elegance of the Wren Library at Trinity, your guide will ensure that you don’t miss a thing. Scudamore's guides are at your service come rain or shine, so head over and experience Cambridge’s most popular tour. There are regular public tours and private bookings can be organised as required.
Scudamore's Punting Company owns the largest fleet of punts in Cambridge, with 150 boats available for self-hire along two routes - the College Backs and Grantchester. Also available for hire in the direction of Grantchester are Canadian canoes, kayaks and rowboats.
Regular river users can save with an Annual Boating Ticket, providing holders with free daily boat hire along the College Backs and out towards Grantchester.
