Stapleford Granary is the new home for the ACE Foundation, an educational charity founded in 1958 with the object of encouraging and developing cultural understanding. We provide support for educational projects, courses and summer schools, both locally and internationally and have played a pioneering role in adult and continuing education.
Key to all ACE's enterprises is education. Sometimes intensively, sometimes more creatively, the core aspiration of ACE is to educate. This is done within the concept of exchange, particularly cultural exchange, often including an international dimension. There are no restrictions on who can be educated, we are all learning all the time!
Our latest project has been to convert some old farm buildings in Stapleford into an educational centre for music and the arts.
During the first phase the beautiful 19th century farm buildings have been lovingly restored into a study centre for music, the arts and culture.
The former Granary has been transformed, with an excellent acoustic enhanced by the Douglas fir flooring and local gault brick walls, and makes a wonderful recital and lecture hall.
The first phase also sees office space for the Foundation and sister company ACE Cultural Tours as well as recording facilities, seminar room and the Champion Workshop, operated by the Cambridge Woodwind Makers.
Phase two will see the addition of creative spaces for both fine and applied art.
The tranquillity of the site together with its accessibility, make it the ideal venue for those wishing to escape the hectic rush of the everyday in order to develop and learn. It’s a place where anyone with artistic or cultural interests, from beginner to top expert, will feel at home and we hope to welcome you here soon.
