Celebrating 350 years of making history
Newmarket Racecourses, alongside the town, is celebrating a monumental anniversary as 2016 marks 350 years of making history. Based around the establishment of modern and organised horseracing there is plenty of rich heritage to honour and share.
The town will be using this important anniversary as an opportunity to share how racing has shaped our region for over three centuries - as well as getting people excited about what the future holds for this unique part of the world.
There’s an exciting and varied programme of events on top of the packed race and entertainment calendar, with everything from a 350-strong mass selfie on Newmarket’s Heath to a Duxford fly-over and a town carnival, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
There’s going to be a special running of the Town Plate at the Moet and Chandon July Festival, and free tours from Discover Newmarket – and that’s all before the opening of the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art in the Autumn.

As part of the monumental year, Newmarket Racecourses are asking you to submit your favourite and most cherished memories from the last 350 years. By providing a memory on the #WeAre350 interactive timeline, you will receive two free Grandstand and Paddock tickets to Autumn Ladies Day on 7th October at the Dubai Future Champions Festival.
Your memory could be your winning betting slip when Frankel won the 2000 Guineas, your videos dancing the night away to Kylie Minogue, or maybe your written memories of that day you met Her Majesty The Queen in Newmarket.
