Stonehenge stone circle, Stonehenge and Avebury tour from Cambridge

Explore beyond the boundary of Cambridge and visit England's most famous iconic prehistoric monument and an awe-inspiring secret place off-the-beaten-track. Our tours are designed for visitors to Britain who wish to experience a little more of this beautiful country. We aim to show you the sights and sounds of modern Britain but reveal the country's rich history and its unique culture. The building of Stonehenge, one of the oldest monuments in the world, began 5000 years ago. Originally built as a graveyard to celebrate the lives of our ancestors, the monument is also aligned with the rising and setting of the midsummer and midwinter sun showing how great an understanding the people had of the world around them. Stonehenge, however, is just the most famous of Britain's prehistoric monuments - Avebury is a complex of monuments that pre-dates Stonehenge, and to many visitors is a more spectacular place to visit. The Avebury stone circle dwarves Stonehenge and with Silbury Hill, the largest man-made hill in prehistoric Europe, the Avebury site is a fabulously mysterious place. Our Stonehenge & Avebury tour departs from the swimming pool on Parker's Piece in central Cambridge at 9am and returns at 7pm. Times for other city departure points will differ. Please visit our website for details. Discounts available for students and children.
