  • Of historic, literary or architectural interest - Hilton Hall was built in 1600, reputedly by a member of the Walpole family. Subsequently all but one of its windows was replaced with Georgian sash windows, affording much more light though changing massively the overall appearance. The dovehouse behind the main building is thought to have been built earlier to serve an earlier house. The cottage has been a home, a shop and a post office, it appears.
