The Old Post Office - Hilton Hall

Nestled in the heart of Hilton village, The Old Post Office is a gem of a cottage, restored beautifully to provide an independent, self-contained base for holiday and business guests.   It is located in the grounds of Hilton Hall, a Jacobean house that was the Cambridge home of the Bloomsbury set.  Do look at the village website to learn more - www.hilton-village.com.

The Old Post Office is spacious.  From the entrance hallway, there is a cloakroom then the orangery, with cane sofas.  One aspect leads outside to a patio and small garden, with the statuesque Hilton Hall and its extensive gardens beyond.   Beyond the orangery you enter the comfortable sitting room, complete with desk, bed-settee sofa and equipped with TV, wifi and phone.  There is a wood-burning stove, though underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm and cosy.

Behind the sitting room there is a well-equipped kitchen and dining area affording independence and privacy for meal-times.
In addition to the bed-settee on the ground floor - for family or guests – winding upstairs you reach the large double bedroom, with a king-sized bed and space for a cot (latter not provided).  It sports windows to front and rear, and has an adjoining en suite shower-room.
The cottage has been developed to a high standard of charm and comfort and is run by the family at Hilton Hall who greet you with a warm welcome and introduce you to the cottage.  They offer a welcome pack and are available to answer queries as needed.
The cottage combines accessibility with tranquillity and peace.  Hilton is a beautiful village with a large cricket green, several lovely ponds, many ancient trees, an historic church and a world-renowned turf maze.  From the house there are country walks, a local ramblers club and easy cycling country.

The many attractions and facilities of Cambridgeshire, London and East Anglia are within easy reach.  There are pubs and restaurants in most of the villages in the area, including award winning bistros and a Thai restaurant.  The village itself has a small shop and a pub, and buses run through the village between St Ives and Papworth Everard, as well as further afield.  More details about the village, its history and local events are available on the village website: www.hilton-village.com.
Hilton is situated about 12 miles from Cambridge, with easy access to mainline railway stations and to the guided busway to Cambridge from the lovely market town of St Ives (see: www.stives-town.info ) which has regular markets covering a wide range of goods.

There is one, upstairs double bedroom with king-sized bed and space for a cot (not provided).
Off the bedroom is a shower-room with heated towel rail.
There is a bed-settee in the sitting area on the ground floor (specific requests to use for sleeping guests).
