Days Out In Clare
Clare is one of West Suffolk's prettiest destinations and Suffolk's smallest town. Steeped in history, attractions include an impressive 13th Century church, a museum, the enchanting Clare Priory and castle ruins.
With a four floored antique and interiors centre, specialist antique shops, vintage fashion boutique and nearby auction house, the town is an antique hunter's paradise.
A health spa and golf club offer relaxation, and delightful country trails along the banks of the river Stour can be found in Clare Castle Country Park; a unique area that enables the visitor to uncover a thousand years of history with the remains of a Victorian railway station located within the grounds of what was once a Norman 'Motte and Bailey' Castle.
In addition to exploring these important historical remains, walks and trails will take you through many wildlife rich areas, including woodland, grassland and waterside. There is plenty of open space for games or a picnic, and an adventure play area for the children. The park also runs a popular year-round programme of entertaining and educational events including themed treasure trails, outdoor theatre and heritage events.
