Burns Night Whisky Tasting

Enjoy a 6-sample crash course in what makes Scotch whisky worthy of poetry!

  • 22nd January 2026
  • 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Burns Night is probably the most important date in the Scotch whisky calendar, so join us for a 6-whisky tasting event. We’ll explore a wide range of whiskies that will help me explain what differences exist in styles and production methods. Whether you’re brand new to whisky, or are a single malt master, there should be a story or a dram for you.

What is Cambridge Whisky Club?

Launched in March 2025, it’s a rebranding of the events that were being organised around the city under the name of Elliott Drinks Whisky. With the new name (and logo) comes an optional membership scheme. When you buy a membership, you get 10% discount on all the events we host at our HQ at Thirsty, and at least 10% off whisky at the bar there too, amongst other things.
You can also sign up for our mailing list or Instagram if you want to stay connected. To learn more, head to the Cambridge Whisky Club website.

What is a guided whisky tasting?

All are welcome to attend the event, whether you consider yourself a whisky expert or haven’t explored it at all. The evening will start with an introduction to the theme or distillery. Then, for each whisky in turn, we’ll explain why it’s earned a place in the lineup, what is interesting about it, and we’ll share some nosing and tasting notes before letting you enjoy the whisky with your friends and fellow guests.
Your host will always be happy to try and answer any questions about the whiskies, the process of making them and the industry at any point. These events are a great opportunity to try some whisky you probably can’t try in a bar, without buying a whole bottle!

Did you know?

The city’s name is known around the world, but it wasn’t always called Cambridge. In the Middle Ages it was known as Grantabridge, meaning the bridge over the river Granta (one of the sources of the River Cam).
