Cambridge Festival: Curator’s Tour

The Museum of Classical Archaeology is home to more than 450 plaster casts of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. But why do we have a collection of copies or ‘fakes’?

  • 26th March 2026 - 26th March 2026
  • 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join Curator Dr Susanne Turner on this tour of the Museum of Classical Archaeology’s Cast Gallery. The Museum houses a rather unusual collection: instead of original statues, the Cast Gallery is packed with more than 600 historical plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures – and find out how thinking about replication might impact how we look at the ancient world.

This is a Cambridge Festival event.

Forming part of St John’s College, The Bridge of Sighs is one of Cambridge’s most famous landmarks. It shares little with its Venetian namesake, but this Gothic Revival style structure is a beauty in its own right, best admired by punt.
