Once again, Downing College is opening up its 20-acre site to gardening enthusiasts. Discover the gardens, meet the award-winning team and learn some new skills in a beautiful College environment. This spring and summer, we are offering the following tours and courses.
All tours and workshops are for those aged 16 years and over only.
Guided by Jack Sharp, Head Gardener, experience spring at Downing College by strolling through the College grounds.
On a spring tour:
- Soak up the sight and fragrances of trees coming into leaf and new woodland blossoms.
- Enjoy plants ‘waking up’ across the borders, beds and woodland.
- Spot the first bulbs and Hellebore flowers in early Spring in March.
- See the Downing College tulip created specifically and currently exclusively for Downing College growing in situ in April.
- Enjoy the Alliums and Roses all over College but notably at their late Spring best in May in the tranquil Rose garden
In addition, all tours allow you to:
- Discover Downing’s garden history
- See how Jack’s team maintain and enhance the site
- Ask questions and chat over refreshments
