International E-Waste Day – Saturday 17th October 2026

Bring your E-Waste to the Centre for Computing History!

  • 17th October 2026 - 17th October 2026
  • 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Bring your E-Waste to the Centre for Computing History!
In celebration of International E-Waste Day this October, we have partnered with SustainableTech4Good and Cambridge Online to have a permanent donation bin at the museum. Any old functioning phones and their cables can be donated, refurbished and then redistributed to the local community that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford these devices. We request that you reset your devices and clean the data where possible. If not, SutainableTech4Good is licensed to manage GDPR and clean data.
We will also have an e-waste bin available for laptops, phones and tablets that are considered ‘end of life’ so that they can be recycled responsibly.
This event will be an opportunity to attend the museum with family and friends, get rid of items that are otherwise collecting dust and learn more about being sustainable with your technology. The event will run during the normal opening hours at the museum from 10am-5pm on Saturday the 17th of October only.
To make this event as accessible as possible, visitors must prebook to have free admission. Otherwise, standard entry at the reception will be required.
We look forward to collecting donations and will be sharing a summary of positive environmental impacts of this event on our socials!
