For anyone who wants to discover the full creative possibilities of this painterly, printmaking technique used by Picasso, Rembrandt and many other artists, this special workshop will let you flex your Drypoint Etching muscles and fly as a printmaker.

Marmalade Print Studio has been open for a year and is now a go-to destination for printmaking in Cambridgeshire. Our studio offers a relaxed and sociable space to get creative in and learn all about the traditional artform of printmaking.

Although the basics are covered in this workshop, and the session is suitable for beginners, it is a deep dive into the possibilities of Drypoint Etching and is ideal for those who want to develop their skills. Over the day, you will have time to really explore the Drypoint process and learn how to take it to another level by experimenting with carborundum and Dremel drills to get some very special textures and surfaces in your prints. You will also learn how to use these effectively in your own designs, whether its soft and gentle tones or dramatic graphics, to suit and enhance your own printmaking style.

“The surroundings, especially the garden, are beautiful and very calming. The course will inspire you to take up creative printmaking.”  Vince

All materials are provided along with tea, coffee and homemade light refreshments but please bring your own lunch with you, which you are welcome to eat in the studio, or our garden if the weather is good. Aprons are available but as inking up your plates can be messy, we suggest that you leave your best clothes at home when you visit us.

Getting to Marmalade is Easy

Buses from Cambridge (the T5 service run by A2B Buses), Ely and Newmarket (the 112 run by Stephensons Buses) stop either outside the studio, or a few minutes away. The rail station at Soham with trains from Ely is a ten-minute walk from us. If you are coming by car, there is free on street parking outside the studio on Pratt Street and two free local car parks a short walk away.
