Is Printmaking for you? Come and find out at our friendly, hands-on, half-day introductory workshop for people who have no experience but would like to try both Intaglio and Relief printmaking techniques in one session.
Our popular half-day Introduction to Printmaking workshops are an ideal way to experience the magic of printmaking, as you are able to explore and experiment within one session with the main printmaking processes and techniques. We have designed the workshop to help you decide what direction you might like to pursue as a printmaker in the future and by the end of your time with us, you will have a good understanding of printmaking as an art form, be comfortable using our printmaking equipment and will have produced a Drypoint Etching and a Linocut print yourself. You will also be ready to choose a follow-on workshop or course in printmaking.
At Marmalade we work in small sociable groups with lots of one-to-one tuition, in the relaxed and creative environment of our gorgeous, garden studio. We provide you with all the materials you need, along with tea, coffee, and cake, so you don’t need to bring anything with you, unless you have special dietary requirements. Young people over 16 years old are very welcome if they bring an adult with them, especially if they are studying GCSE art as this will enhance their exam portfolios.
Our teaching style is hands-on and practical so you will get to grips with printmaking rather than theory!
Please note that, although we have aprons in the studio, we recommend that you don’t wear your best clothes when you visit us, as printmaking can be a bit messy.
Here is what Pauline, one of our students says about us
“It has been fantastic to learn the beginnings of a new process and I know that I would love to learn more. The venue, the people and the teaching all made for a really special experience for me.”
