What can be done with painting: Gillian Ayres’ in the ’70s showcases monumental abstract paintings that stretch across the walls of The Heong Gallery, by the pioneering British artist, Gillian Ayres. This musical concert allows you to experience the exhibition beyond the usual opening hours, while also listening to a soundscape inspired by Ayres’ paintings. The event will feature early choral works performed by members of Downing College Chapel Choir — apparently the artist’s preferred listening matter when creating her paintings — as well as musical responses to the paintings by student singer-songwriter Lola Pesskin, and some ’70s classics.
