The UAPB Vesper Choir is a traditional college choir that performs repertoire from diverse stylistic periods; generally for experienced singers. The Vesper Choir performs classical choral literature, spirituals, contemporary choral literature, choral jazz and gospel selections. Participation is not limited to music majors and minors. Prerequisites: audition, interview, letter of recommendation from the student’s high school director, or other music professional and consent of the Director.The internationally recognised University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir, under the direction of Mr. Jerron Liddell, is nationally recognised among historically Black colleges and universities for its diverse repertoire and excellent performances. This 75-80 member select ensemble, founded in the 1940s by Professor Ariel Lovelace and conducted for more than 40 years by Professor Shelton J. McGee, has a rich choral tradition that includes numerous performances on radio and television, as well as performances in Italy and Spain.
The Vesper Choir will be visiting Cambridge as part of their 2026 tour of Scotland and England.
They will be performing a free lunchtime concert from 1-2pm in the main lecture theatre at The Old Divinity School, Cambridge.
