Volcanic eruptions pose a risk to livelihoods and lives of over 1 billion people globally. The large number of volcanoes in Iceland threaten many communities living within a close distance. Disaster risk managers and emergency responders must make decisions during volcanic eruptions to protect the lives of those living in proximity to the volcano, and to limit the impacts. In this workshop session, we’ll simulate an unfolding volcanic crisis in Iceland and you will become the decision makers taking responsibility for preparing and responding to the eruption.
Presented by Dr Lara Mani from Global Volcano Risk Alliance.
