Coffee Shops & Tea Rooms

If you are after a quick break from shopping or the perfect rendezvous, there are plenty of chic cafes for frothy coffees and fresh pastries or traditional English tea rooms serving delicious home-made cakes. Auntie’s Tea Room, off Market Square, and the Orchard Tea Gardens at Granchester are Cambridge institutions not to be missed. Patisserie Valerie, on Bridge Street, is celebrated for its fine cakes and gateaux, and Fitzbillies, on Trumpington Street, is a world- famous cake shop; Stephen Fry tweeted about its Chelsea buns, celebrating them as ‘unmatched anywhere’.
