Add Fitzbillies to your Itinerary

Fitzbillies, with it’s beautiful art nouveau shop front on Trumpington St, is a Cambridge institution.  Its famously sticky Chelsea buns have been made and sold on the premises since 1921.  No trip to Cambridge is complete without a visit.

The original cake shop is open 7 days a week selling a huge variety of cakes, pastries and of course the famous Chelsea buns.  Hidden behind it (walk through the back of the cake shop) is a large café/restaurant serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Favourite brunch dishes include the Full English Breakfast, Eggs Benedict and Smashed Avocado on Toast.  The brunch menu is served right through until 4pm with lots more dishes including soup, salads and delicious savoury tarts from lunchtime.

As soon as lunch is over, tea time begins.  Whether you’d like the full Celebration Afternoon Tea, served on a three tier stand with a glass of champagne, or a cup of tea and a slice of cake, we’re sure to have something to delight.

And next door to the cake shop, on the corner of Pembroke St is our coffee counter, serving artisan coffee, roasted by Climpson & Son in East London, and made by some of the best barista’s in Cambridge.  Coffee and and the full breakfast menu are available from 8am on weekdays.

"A rare exception to the rule that the finer a town's university, the worse its restaurants'.  Matthew Norman, the Telegraph

'Simple, unadorned good taste extends to the menu, which could be subtitled 'things you really want to eat.  Seasonality and regionality are assumed rather than trumpeted and there's a distinctly British feel to many of the dishes."  Tracey MacLeod, The Independent.

Fitzbillies doesn’t take bookings.  Please just come along and get the next available table.
