The Orator is a stylish British bar and restaurant in a stunning Victorian building, offering beautiful cocktails, small and large plates & one of Cambridges’s largest beer garden’s.

We offer a casual dining experience, somewhere between modern and classic dishes, with a focus on friendly service. We use a lot of local suppliers including Kale & Damson, Rennet & Rind, who curate our cheeses, and Burtons Butchers in Saffron Walden.

The Orator is part of The Cambridge Union, a charity owned members club which is home to the world’s oldest debating society so you can feel good every time you come in and buy your white port negroni, knowing you’re supporting a charity that promotes free speech.

Over the years, The Union has hosted some of the greatest minds in the world including Bill Gates, Theodore Roosevelt, and more recently Robert De Niro and President Zelensky.

Previously a members only facility, The Cambridge Union has opened it’s doors to the wider public, where you can books events, eat and drink and even become a ‘friends’ member to join the famous debates.
