Recent Testimonials

When we had completed our flight we had one word to say that described our experience:  EXHILARATING.
The flight in the Dragon Rapide was in itself an experience to be enjoyed. With the addition of being “buzzed” by the mark IX Spitfire was shear joy, as to view the “Spit” from the air, rather than from the ground, was simply unforgettable.
We attach our photograph which captures the rawness of the event.
Thank you all for a wonderful day.

What can I say, I am still smiling from the experience, flying next to a spitfire at 2000 feet is difficult to put into words, a truly unbelievable time, the whole day from the meeting in the control tower to walking next to the spitfire and having your photograph taken, then climbing into the Rapide for the flight,  then the moment arrives as you take off, very shortly you are looking for the spitfire, and there it is flying next to you, brilliant flying from  both pilots ensure that there were ample opportunities to take all the pictures that you want, and before you know it you are landing back at Duxford, to be treated by the spitfire giving you a personal display across the Airfield.

I feel that I must send you a note to say how much I enjoyed my Wing to Wing with a Spitfire flight last Saturday. It was a truly memorable experience. From the very friendly welcome we received at the beginning to the final farewells we were admirably looked after.
There were so many highlights. To actually fly in a Dragon Rapide that was almost as old as me was a great adventure in itself and it was an enormous thrill to stand up close to the Spitfire as it was being prepared for flight and to imagine what it must have been like when there were several squadrons all being similarly prepared. The photograph of me standing alongside the Spitfire was a wonderful souvenir
The flight itself was amazing. Obviously I have seen plenty of pictures of Spitfires in flight, but never did I think that I would ever get the chance to be so close to a flying Spitfire in real life. It really brought home to one the sheer beauty of its design and it was sobering to reflect that this beautiful piece of machinery was primarily designed as a highly efficient means of killing people.
For me an added bonus was that the flight actually took us over my house and it was also a delight that my family, including my four-year-old grandson, were able to watch from the control tower; that was something that they really appreciated.
Although I am very familiar with IWM Duxford this was a completely new experience - many thanks to everyone concerned who helped to make it so memorable.
All good wishes

Michael Evans
