Another reason to visit Cambridge and Beyond

It is billed as telling the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world - Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street - and the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.

Filming for the spectacular wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip took place at Ely Cathedral, with areas transformed into the interior and exterior of Westminster Abbey.

The film company were on site for about 10 days which included set up and strike. Three scenes were shot at Ely, the most prominent being the Wedding of The Queen to Prince Philip.

There was about 300 cast and crew on site and the scene even involved a replica state coach.  Some Ely Choristers were featured as part of the Choir in the Wedding scene.
