LockHouse Escape Games

Play is for adults as well as children.

Our mission is to give you the most exciting hour in Cambridge! We do this by partnering with European market-leaders TRAP whose escape games consistently rank #1 in Budapest, the capital of escape games. We've selected their three best games for you, then added our own uber-unhomely twists.

Here's what Ken Fergusson, owner of leading escape room review website ExitGames.co.uk had to say about TRAP Games:

I’ve played four of their games (including both the Egyptian and Armageddon) and think they’re some of the best games I’ve played, so I’m all in favour of more of them opening in the UK.”

- Ken Ferguson, ExitGames.co.uk

Our Games:

The Egyptian Game is already the most popular game in Budapest in it’s original form - But, we wanted to make it even better for you! So we’ve added several ramps and ante-chambers to the original tunnel system within it. Expect secret doors, big wooden physical puzzles, Egyptian art and a life-size sarcophagus!

In the Cavendish Armageddon Game you get to destroy a giant meteor hurtling towards the  Earth! First, you have to break into the secret Missile Laboratory within the Physics Department of the University of Cambridge. Once there, you can work out what’s happened to Launch Chief, Dr Unheimlich and find out how to fire the meteor defense missile. Expect dark secrets and puzzles involving overriding a highly classified missile launch system.

In the Secret Agent Game you have to escape from a Cold War era safehouse hidden under the streets of Cambridge. You need to get out alive, complete with evidence of double-agent Kim Philby’s betrayal. Expect secret hidden doors, severed thumbs and a big gun.

What are Escape Games?

Escape Games are live-action adventures for teams of 2 to 5. You begin trapped in a room and have to overcome a series of challenges to escape! This involves puzzles, dexterity challenges, finding items and solving mysteries. New areas of the game are revealed as you progress. Towards the end of your 1-hour time-limit adrenaline kicks in as you frantically try to beat the clock!

Escape games are unusual in that they are enjoyed by a very wide range of people. Families, corporate groups, tourists and students are all frequent visitors to escape rooms. What other activities are there that can entertain a three-generational family team?

What else can I do at LockHouse?

-Enjoy a range of board games and puzzles to play or purchase

-Twist your mind with our two Virtual Reality consoles

-Be amazed by the Magical Pop-up Market Stall and Matthew Taylor’s technomancy performances. Be confused by his spook-tastic Electronic Palm Reading and the disturbing Inner-Selfie Reader.

- Get involved with Demo Nights from local independent game-makers and artists
