Cambridge University Botanic Garden Sounds Green 2018

Sounds Green Open Air Music – Every Wednesday evening in July 2018 in association with Cambridge Summer Music

A weekly celebration of summer and music, Sounds Green is part of the Cambridge Summer Music programme of events. Set on the Garden's Main Lawn with the Bee Borders as a stunning backdrop, visitors can enjoy an array of live music with family and friends, on a (hopefully) warm and balmy evening. Every Wednesday in July.

Music begins at 6.15pm, lasting approx one hour.
Visitors are welcome to stay on and enjoy the Garden until 8pm when the gates will close.
No tickets are required but normal Garden admission applies. There will be a retiring collection at the end of each performance towards the musicians' performance fees.

The Sounds Green Programme 2018

Prime Brass

Talented Cambridge-based ten-piece brass ensemble with a strong local following. First established nearly 30 years ago, Prime Brass is well known for its performances at the lighter end of the musical spectrum and for its highly popular family concerts.

Wednesday 11 July 2018, 6.15pm

She’Koyokh’s members hail from the UK, Serbia, Sweden and Turkey. They bring together polyphonic melodies and intricate rhythms of Bulgaria, treasured traditions from Serbian villages, exhilarating Gypsy dances from the Romanian mountains and soulful Sephardic and klezmer music from Turkey, Macedonia, Poland and Ukraine.

Wednesday 18 July 2018, 6.15pm
TG Collective

The diverse instrumental group TG Collective bring together a mix of hotclub, flamenco, jazz and contemporary classical influences, based around the core of guitarists Jamie Fekete and Sam Slater. TGC perform original music and arrangements, touching on influences as varied as Paco de Lucia to Django Reinhardt and JS Bach. They have built up a strong following with their intense live performances.

Wednesday 25 July 2018, 6.15pm

Making a welcome return to Sounds Green is the four-piece band Afrosamba. Fronted by Brazilian born Pilo Adami, the group encompasses Afro Brazilian Jazz, Samba and Bossa Nova. Joined by seasoned musicians from Mozambique, Brazil and the UK, influences range from João Gilberto’s harmonic complexities and Airto Moreira’s experimental rhythms to the laid back music of Jorge Ben Jor.

Food and Drink
The Garden Café will be serving food and drink; visitors are also welcome to picnic.

Sounds Green 2018 is kindly supported by BDB Bircham Dyson Bell
