The New Kettle’s Yard Opens

10th Feb

After over two years of development, the long-awaited opening of the New Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge will be Saturday 10 February 2018.
Kettle’s Yard, part of the consortium of the University of Cambridge Museums, set in a landmark location in the centre of the City, has been transformed by Jamie Fobert Architects.


e-Luminate Festival
9th – 14th Feb

COLOUR and light will bathe the city centre in February when e-Luminate Cambridge Festival once again returns to enchant, entrance, fascinate and inform. As day turns to night, see Cambridge’s most iconic buildings drawn from the darkness and transformed by an array of breath-taking light-art installations, created by some of Europe’s leading artists.


Twilight at the Museums
13th Feb 

Every February, as darkness falls, museums and collections across the City open their doors for an exciting evening of FREE family exploration and adventure – all part of Twilight at the Museums, organised by the University of Cambridge Museums.


Love Food Festival
10th & 11th Feb

Love Food is a weekend celebration of the food we love. There will be tastings and demos from some of our favourite suppliers as well as half-term activities for the kids during the week including bread for beginners & children's curry class!


Ickworth House Park and Gardens
Children’s Craft Days

10th Feb

Children can make their own snowdrops, as well as creations to reflect both the midst of winter and the upcoming new season. There'll be 'weather mobiles' and 'season trees,' where children can create a 3D tree of the changing seasons.

Wicken Fen Nature Reserve
Love Birds
14th Feb

This half term, take the chance to learn all about the feathery friends at Wicken Fen. Make a bird box and bird feeder to take home, then go bird watching with the rangers to discover some of the special species that live here.


Half Term at IWM Duxford

This half term IWM Duxford have teamed up with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures to bring you a mix of performances and workshops. The collaboration will bring local heritage and history to life under the planes at IWM Duxford. This not-to-be-missed event is inspired by the roles of young RAF airmen during the Battle of Britain.

You can also take part in their popular Lancaster Experience. Step inside a real Lancaster Bomber and take part in family friendly sessions about the dangerous and difficult conditions endured during wartime missions. 


Make a Sweetheart Pincushion

12 & 13 Feb

As part of the '100 Hearts for 100 years' Exhibition , Lt Col Neil Stace (Finalist of the Great British Sewing Bee) will be holding family sewing workshops at Ely Cathedral.

Families are invited to join the Sewing Soldier in making their own commemorative WW1 Sweetheart Pincushions and to learn how the injured soldiers used sewing and embroidery to help them recover from the physical and psychological traumas of fighting in the trenches.

Botanic Nights at the Botanic Garden

14th Feb

Spend a special evening in the warmth of the Botanic Garden's impressive Glasshouse Range with atmospheric light displays and wine from around the world.

Under the Fig Leaf at the Museum of Classical Archaeology
15th Feb

Discover the naughtier side of the Museum of Classical Archaeology's collection after hours. Uncover some of the saucy and amorous tales behind the sculptures through tours and a very special hunt - and see the iconic classical statues illuminated as you've never seen them before.


Cambridge Arts Theatre
ART

14th – 24th Feb

Three men. Three friends. One white painting. One of the most successful comedies ever, Art is the winner of an Olivier, Tony, Moliere and every other major world theatre award. Art is a masterpiece.
