The Royal Visit November 2012

A Warm Welcome for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Crowds packed the market square in Cambridge to welcome Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the city on Wednesday 28th November.

The Royal couple waved to onlookers from the balcony of the Guildhall before conducting a walkabout in the market square.

Earlier they met Cllr Sheila Stuart, Mayor of Cambridge, the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire and other dignitaries. They also met some of the special people who received a Cambridge News Community Award.

Cllr Sheila Stuart said: "It has been a huge pleasure and a privilege to host Their Royal Highnesses during their visit to the Guildhall.

"It was a wonderful experience standing on the Guildhall balcony and seeing the huge crowds who came out to welcome the Royal couple. It has been a very special day for Cambridge."

The Royal couple moved on from the Guildhall to carry out engagements at the Cambridge University Senate House, Jimmy’s night shelter on East Road and The Manor School on Arbury Road.
