  • 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Choir2000 choral society brings George Dyson’s oratorio “Canterbury Pilgrims” to Cambridge on 30th June.

The Pilgrims who journeyed to Chaucer’s Canterbury around 1380 are bordering on the caricature. They show us the best and the worst in ourselves and those around us, inviting us to laugh, to reflect and to cherish community. George Dyson’s musical poems are equally vivid, boisterous, humorous, and moving. Written for performance in 1930, they reflect Dyson’s rejection of the extremes of musical modernism, in favour of tuneful, accessible music.

This energizing collection of musical tableaux are rarely performed and Choir2000 is bringing them to Cambridge for the first time, with strong support from the George Dyson Trust.

Choir2000 comprises nearly 100 singers and will be accompanied by its 25-piece orchestra, together with highly established soloists Anna-Luise Wagner, Peter Weatherly and Peter Norris.

Sunday June 30th at West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge.
Tickets £15.00
