Creative Opera Workshop – sing, move and devise!

This exciting and engaging workshop will be co-led by William Kerley and Jessie Maryon Davies. During the three-hour workshop, we will be exploring the art and creativity of singing in an opera chorus.

This exciting and engaging workshop will be co-led by William Kerley and Jessie Maryon Davies.  During the three-hour workshop, we will be exploring the art and creativity of singing in an opera chorus. Will and Jessie will guide you through key performative elements such as character, physicality, motivation and movement. Participants will also devise text and music to create their own mini operas together. We welcome all voices, and all levels of singing experience from newcomer to professional, from choral, non-traditional and operatic backgrounds.

 

About William Kerley & Jessie Maryon Davies

 

William Kerley is an opera, theatre and film director, writer and broadcaster. He has worked at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, the RSC and National Theatre.

 

Jessie Maryon Davies is a pianist and composer whose work centres around community and collaboration. Jessie is the musical director of trans-inclusive, women’s pop choir Lips and co-founder of award-winning music charity Girls Rock London. In 2018, she was awarded The Unsung Hero award by Time Out recognising her achievements in building community through music.
