English Touring Opera: Giulio Cesare

English Touring Opera returns to Cambridge Arts Theatre with three great operas encompassing love and war, comedy and epic tragedy. One of Handel’s most celebrated works, Giulio Cesare, is a majestic opera in which the characters are driven to extreme feelings and actions, and in which the music strikes the heart. A story of passion and revenge, featuring a treasure trove of great arias with immense dramatic intensity, the opera follows the events surrounding Julius Caesar’s conquest of Egypt, as well as his uneasy alliance and romance with fabled Egyptian queen, Cleopatra. Each opera is performed on period instruments in partnership with the much-praised Old Street Band.
