We’re delighted to welcome Flook back to the Granary to open our 2023 outdoor concert series. Taking inspiration from their roots in Irish and English folk music, Flook’s trademark sound blends intricate weaving of traditional tunes with flights of agility and a bold, adventurous musical imagination. Their most recent album Ancora was released in 2019 to critical acclaim and nominated for BBC Folk Album of the year. Folk Radio UK praised the album, writing ‘expectations more than fully met – simply a brilliant album’.  Bright Young Folk described Ancora as ‘the highest peak of their more than twenty year old career’.

Flook’s 10th anniversary tour included a concert at Sage Gateshead and the Purcell Room as part of a week of ‘Folk in the Fall’ on London’s South Bank. After 13 years together the group took a 5 year break and came back together again in 2013, to perform live in venues across the UK and internationally including the Soma Festival in Belfast, Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre and the Star Pine Cafe in Tokyo.
