Free open-air Screening of Dr Strangelove

Free open air screening of Dr. Strangelove in CB1. The ultimate, and most accurate, parody of the insanity of the cold war doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction

Following renewed interest in the cold war after the release of Oppenheimer we are screening Dr. Strangelove.

A classic from Stanley Kubrick starring Peter Sellers in three roles, Dr. Strangelove is a madcap ride through the irrational nature of the Cold War. Sellers is his usual marvelous self. It is stupidity revealed and has been hailed as the most accurate depiction of the true insanity of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD).

This is a film about what could happen if the wrong person pushed the wrong button – and it plays the situation for laughs. U.S. Air Force General Jack Ripper goes completely insane, and sends his bomber wing to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the “precious bodily fluids” of the American people.
