Acclaimed folk band Kabantu aim to celebrate the space where different cultures meet’ (indeed, all four players were born in different countries). We’re delighted to welcome this Manchester-based acoustic quartet with their unique style, fusing global influences with jazz improvisation and reminders of their classically-trained backgrounds.

Kabantu’s stand-out performances include appearances at the BBC Proms, live sessions for BBC Free Thinking Festival, BBC Radio 3 In Tune, World on 3 and an array of renowned venues including King’s Place, TedX Manchester, Sage Gateshead and Cadogan Hall. Classical festival highlights include Aldeburgh, Deal, Lichfield, Petworth and Spitalfields International Music Festivals and folk festivals including Celtic Connections, Musicport, Fire in the Mountain and Broadstairs.

In 2017, Kabantu were the winners of the coveted Royal Over-Seas League Competition. In 2018 they released their debut album Of the People to critical acclaim, produced by the Mercury-nominated Gerry Diver. They will record and release their second album Freehand later this year.
