The Spring of Mirth – Granta Chorale concert

Join Granta Chorale choir for an afternoon of exultant choral music including Bach's beloved motet Jesu, meine Freude.

  • 12th March 2023
  • 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join Granta for exultant choral music including Bach’s beloved motet Jesu, meine Freude. Full of joy and rejoicing, we move from Gabrieli’s Jubilate Deo, to Byrd’s Sing Joyfully to Janet Wheeler’s We Sing to God the Spring of Mirth.

Contrast comes from Cecilia McDowall’s Gaude et Laetare with its sparkling organ part played by Richard Carr,  John Rutter’s jazz setting of It was a lover and his lass and other gems. Enjoy an hour of choral music in atmospheric St John’s Church, Duxford with its ancient wall paintings and beautiful acoustic.

Did you know?

In 1958, a group of engineering students managed to hoist an Austin Seven car onto the roof of Senate House, with the help of some clever calculations. It took the university a week to remove it – and will surely go down in history as one of the boldest student pranks ever!
